2026–2027
Every year the parish offers the Neocatechumenal Way catecheses for young people and adults. They take place on Mondays and Thursdays at 20:30 in the parish halls, entrance at Calle Huertas 2. This year they end with a convivence, a weekend retreat, from 11 to 13 December.
The parish communities
The parish has welcomed Neocatechumenal communities since 1971, and today nine communities live their faith here. They celebrate the Eucharist every Saturday; ask at the parish for each week’s time.
“We must build Christian communities like the Holy Family of Nazareth, living in humility, simplicity and praise. The other is Christ.”
What is the Neocatechumenal Way?
The Neocatechumenal Way was born in 1964 in the shanty towns of Madrid, through Kiko Argüello and Carmen Hernández. After a deep existential crisis, Kiko discovered Christ in the suffering of the innocent and went to live among the poorest; Carmen brought her theological training in the renewal of the Second Vatican Council. From there the Way spread to Rome and to the rest of the world.
It is a path of Christian initiation that several popes have recognised as a fruit of the Holy Spirit for the new evangelisation. John Paul II approved its statutes in 1997, and in 2008, under Benedict XVI, the Pontifical Council for the Laity gave them final approval. It has given rise to families in mission and many diocesan missionary seminaries.
